Dermpath Diagnostics is the leading provider of dermatopathology services in the U.S. Our continued growth in this field has created an immediate opportunity for a Data Entry Clerk to join our team in Dallas, Texas.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Data entry and critical analysis of paper requisitions into the Billing Information System (BIS). The position requires a minimum standards for production and for quality.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Must have viewed and have knowledge of a wide variety of insurance cards from many different insurance companies, including but not limited to: ability to determine if the insurance card is a medical card vs a dental or Rx card, where to find pertinent billing information on the card and whether or not the information on the card is everything required in order to bill.A Alpha-Numeric typing Scores from 8000 KSPH to 10,000 KSPH & alpha-numeric accuracy rate of 99% - 100%. Strongly prefer at least 3 years of prior Medical Billing experience. Strongly prefer candidates with prior data entry production experience. Strongly prefer candidates with either prior billing data entry experience for a medical diagnostic laboratory or front office Medical Billing experience. Skilled in problem solving and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must work well with others, must be self-motivated and driven to excellence. HS diploma or equivalency.
- General knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes (there is no CPT or ICD-9 coding with this position).
POSITION RESPONSIBILITY: - Data entry of demographic and insurance information into Billing Information System (BIS) from source documents.
- May at times enter charge information as specified.
- Will use personal knowledge of billing rules and requirements along with a critical/analytical eye in order to determine if information provided appears to be incorrect or incomplete (invalid ID format for specific insurance, ID# not provided on copy of insurance card or handwriting on requisition not legible, etc.).
- Quality control of requisitions and attachments
- Maintain productivity and quality standards as set by management
- Responsible for reporting problems and errors to management in an effective and efficient manner.
- Attend and participate in departmental staff meetings
- Communicate and interact with others in a professional, responsible, cooperative and positive manner at all times.
- Foster team work by offering assistance to others
- Responsible for all information communicated by management on departmental policies & procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of information that is pertinent to Quest Diagnostics, AmeriPath, Dermpath Diagnostics and per HIPAA law.
- Perform other tasks as management deems necessary.
